Ka'ahumanu came under the influence of Calvinist missionaries and many of her decisions changed the nature of Hawaii forever. In this novel Queen Ka'ahumanu is summoned by the major Hawaiian deities to explain and justify her decisions to end the ancient, Hawaiian religion, westernize and Christianize her people.
