The Inception of Conscious and Lucid Dreams is a retitled reprint of the widely quoted original manuscript published by the University of South Dakota Media Press in 1974. This book was the first published work dedicated to exploring conscious or lucid dreams (dreams wherein you realize you are dreaming) within the larger context of dreams and sleep. A general and original theory of sleep and dreams is outlined as a context within which to understand lucid dreams as a natural extension of these mechanisms rather than an exceptional event experienced only by gifted individuals. This 2010 printing contains a new preface that outlines a design for scientific dream-to-dream communication using existing electronic tools and the internet. The book also attempts to formulate a biochemical reason for sleeping and dreaming that may be too technical for some readers.
