The story is about a young Danish sailor who joins a Norwegian ship in 1962. The ship travel to many places,Germany, Luisiana, Africa, Indonesia, India, before arriving in Australia where he and other sailors jump ship and become illegal immigrants.He end up in Thursday Island, a heaven for misfits, hippies and drifters, much like himself. He drive a taxi for a time but get lured into the easy life of a beachomber, the typical life of lazy days and hot nigths with local women, but it all comes to an abruct end.
