This book describes my experiences as a young boy growing up in western Iowa during the 1940’s and early 1950’s. Money was scarce in those days. Some of the houses we lived in had no electricity, no phone, no running water. Sometimes I went to bed a little bit hungry. Sometimes I had holes in my shoes and no winter coat or mittens.
