These are my earliest short stories. They are rough and awkward in many places, reflective of a young writer just beginning to find his voice. They are not my first serious works of prose, however, since I wrote three early novels nobody will ever see due to the numbers of typos and language errors they contain, so these tales are at least readable. The buyer should not purchase this book with the idea of reading top-notch fiction – these first works are not worthy of such attention, but anyone who has read the bulk of my material may someday be interested in the roots of it all. This analogy represents my roots. I hope you will read the stories it contains with a vision of me as a cocky twenty-one year-old working on an antiquated 8086 Xerox desktop computer with 640Kb of memory – only the very wealthy had mobile telephones and the Internet was only a dream.
