The Casa Grande Ruins National Monument is an ancient Hohokam Indian settlement established around 1100 AD and deserted around 1450. The Casa Grande, or big house, is one of the largest free-standing buildings of antiquity in North America at four stories tall. In 1892 it became the nation’s first archeological preserve. This book contains opalotype images of the ruins in keeping with the mystery and antiquity of the site. An opalotype image is a wet collodian and silver gelatin process first patented in 1857 and essentially discontinued in the 1930’s. All images in this work were taken by the author. Approximately 59 images and about 61 pages.
