Sixteen-year-old Jenny Colston wakes up in the woods instead of her own bed. She meets a strange group of people, the Fairish, who tell her she's on another planet, Noksamar, in a country called Calorn. The first elder of the Fairish believes God allowed her to come there for a reason, but Jenny wishes God had picked someone else. While the Fairish try to figure out how she got there, eighteen-year-old Jeremiah rescues her from several frightening situations. This attracts the attention of Boakrah, the prince of the Rahnorics.
