Amanda is ten years old and has been assigned to the Angels softball team for the second year in a row. The Angels had finished in last place the year before and Amanda didn’t want that humiliation again. When she finds out that all the other girls are only nine years old she knows she is doomed before she starts. However as time goes on the girls begin to realize that they are not so different. Most have annoying siblings and think boys are stupid. As the families of the girls come into the picture Amanda sees that she isn’t the only one who has to cope with divorce and dividing time between parents. Each girl has her own fears and as they share these problems they start to become a team. In the end they find that caring is the road to winning.
