Too few people are left to produce the food the cities need and so we are allowed a comfortable, old-fashioned existence as long as we keep growing beef and grains for the rest of our country. I love it, love going to a small school with close friends, fishing and hunting, being self-reliant. That's why I wasn't happy at all, after the tests, when I was among the chosen.Why me? I'm an ordinary guy, good at sports, nothing special in the classroom. What is about me that I've been picked to send along with 99 other fifteen-year-olds, half boys and half girls, to a distant settler world?I can't feel like this is a good thing.
