The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops. (James 5:16-18 NIV)We Christians are tempted to complain about the things going on in the world, that we aren’t happy about, or that cause us pressure or anxiety. Some of those things would be: wars, the weather, starving children, government policies, the economy, the price of food, the price of gas, our businesses, our jobs or our kids. But Jesus didn’t call us to be complainers. He wants to partner with us to do something about the problems in our lives, and the problems in the world. In the scripture above, we see that Elijah’s prayers were controlling the weather.
