When Ethan Brooks returns to his brother's ranch after the War Between the States, he finds his brother embroiled in a feud. Two neighboring brothers want to run him off his land so they can increase the size of their herd of cattle. Ethan, being a man with a reputation as a fast gun, is not about to let anyone run roughshod over him or his brother. He pays a visit to the two brothers and let's them know in so many words that anymore trouble from them will end in bloodshed and gun smoke. They send for a hired gun who they've used before. To make matters worse there is a gang of bank robbers in the area who have murdered several homesteaders as well as robbed a bank in Denver and have a US marshal on their trail as well as a friend of Ethan's. Add a band of renegade Cheyenne and you have all the ingredients to a good Western story that will have the reader turning page after page.
