“The Bully” is a cold-war short story classic. One month after the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, a HH-3, Jolly Green, rescue helicopter is sent on a mission north of Iceland to rescue a Russian with a head injury off a fishing trawler. Pararescuemen Sam Young is lowered on the deck of the trawler and encounters the unexpected. Russian submarines appear and attempt intimidation, but in the end the entire Soviet Northern fleet is the one intimidated. The injured seaman is actually a high-level defection occurring under the Soviet’s nose. A must read for David Joseph story lovers.
