A year has passed since Paul and Chaeley met the genie Rialti and were tricked into going to the Crown of Amaranth on a quest for a dragon's horn. They haven't forgotten the adventures they had and the friends they made in that magical realm, but summer vacation is ending and school is about to begin. The children take one last trip to the beach, and when Paul finds a perfect conch shell, he has no idea that hiding inside the shell is Rialti, who escaped his fate in the crater of the volcano. When the genie hears Paul idly make a wish, Rialti has no choice but to grant it. Now Chaeley and their monkey Chirp have to travel with Rialti back into the Crown of Amaranth to rescue her brother. But the lands of myth and legend and all of Paul and Chaeley's friends have changed in their absence, and Rialti's spells are unfortunately as imperfect as ever.
