"Brethren, this evening we are drawing to the
conclusion of this Bible study series taken
from the book of Hebrews. To me, it seems
like we’ve run through it awfully quickly, but
this is the seventh part in the series, going on
to perfection.
In Hebrews 6—well, let’s go back and pick it up
in Hebrews 5:12. Paul is writing to old-time
Christians—people who had been in the Church
for many years.
Hebrews 5:12, he tells us, “For though by this
time you ought to be teachers, you need someone
to teach you again the first principles of the
oracles of God [the very beginning, the very
elemental principles of God’s Word]; and you
have come to need milk and not solid food.”
He’s sort of correcting them. They had been in
the Church long enough that by this time, they
should have been in a position to be of help to
others and able to teach others, but now they
