"This evening we are continuing our survey in the
book of Acts. We are up to the middle section
in the book of Acts—chapters 10—17. One of
the things that we will note, particularly this
evening, is the issue of Gentiles. One of the great
issues of the early New Testament Church
involved the acceptance of the Gentiles into the
full fellowship of the Church. Now let me preface
that by saying that the issue was not simply a
matter of accepting Gentiles. It was a matter
of accepting uncircumcised Gentiles. That was
the issue. The great issue had to do with
circumcision.
It wasn’t simply a matter of ethnic origin. If
you want to note the contrast in Acts 8, we
have the account of the conversion of the
Ethiopian eunuch. There wasn’t any controversy
