The words of Rousseau come to mind in each step of the journey of The Black Man to freedom, from slavery to the present day; because man who was born to be free, would find a way to be free; and not just free of physical bondage and chains, but free politically, legally, economically, socially, religiously, emotionally and last of all, to be psychologically free of the stigma and stereotypes that have held him back since the first African born slave set foot on American soil in the early 1600’s. The journey to freedom began that first day a man was chained and held in forced bondage, and the journey will not end until The Black Man in America is socially, economically, and psychologically as free as every man should be in the ‘Land of Freedom’: The United States of America.
