Ed Lane is hired as security officer for a team of ecologists and researchers restoring an island to its natural state. On site, the team’s anthropologist uncovers a local myth about a young woman named Isabel who lived on the island in the 1800s and had a love affair with ship captain. She died after he abandoned her, and now haunts the island, taking out her vengeance on lonely men. Several have died over the years. A month after Lane arrives, a ranch employee hangs himself. At the scene, Lane meets a young woman who says she is Isabel and he is her missing lover. He dismisses the encounter. After hunters decimate the island’s non-native deer and elk, a triple-crescent moon appears in the sky, an earthquake occurs, wildlife disappear, and the island becomes eerily silent, as if reacting to the slaughter.
