The year is 1837 and times are changing in the wilderness of North Texas. As more settlers move in and occupy land, relations with the Indians have dissolved from an uneasy peace to complete hostility. Believing raids will drive the newcomers from the land given to them by treaty as hunting grounds, the hostiles begin to burn homesteads, killing men, women and children.
When the Volunteer Rangers expand, Dylan Ryan is one of the first to enlist. Still unable to locate Abigail after their parting, he decides his contribution as an Indian fighter will help ensure her safety.
Will he be in time to save her, or will she perish as Forts and homesteads continue to burn?
