“Ashes of a broken home” is my attempt at crafting a colourful, enjoyable, entertaining and engaging piece of writing for theatrical companies in need of works from voices in Africa. This is a play I have written to broaden horizons for theatregoers and to enrich the field of theatre, in my quest to introduce designs, themes and impulses that help infuse vitality and achieve wealth of diversity of works to theatres. “Ashes of a broken home” is a play in which tragedy and conflicts are exploited to provide entertainment and comic relief for audiences. This is a play that is centred on the polygamous family unit, which is common in Africa, and x-rays some major areas of conflict popularly inherent in it.
