Introduced by the Author Back in 1995, in the Stone Age of print publishing I began to compile a loose collection of poems that would become my first book The Pagan Field. I was young, headstrong, foolish, badly-informed and full of dreams; maybe I should have stayed in that place, they were happy carefree days. That first short collection of poems was filled with idealism, surrealism and a romantic rose-tinted view of the world around me. The poems from that era, reproduced in this mid-term retrospective, represent that young man, now a stranger to me; they are in many ways naïve but I hope entertaining. In the few short years that followed The Pagan Field my love of poetry waned and the poems included here from that time are laced with a sarcasm, almost an anger, at the world in general.
