I was not looking for God, but I found God anyway.
In fact, I did not want to believe in God. Why? Because my Christian upbringing left me scratching my head trying to make sense of its confusing contradictions. Moreover, my life was in a mess, and if there was a God, that God must have hated me.
Yet, I was imminently curious about life. I had a seemingly insatiable drive to figure out answers to such questions as: How did the universe come about? Where did it come from? What is the source of all matter and energy? How did unconscious star dust become conscious life? Why does life exist in the first place? And what is the purpose and meaning of it all?
