Authority without responsibility (accountability), is totalitarian dictatorship and always ends in anarchy. Responsibility without authority leads to stress, depression, breakdown and despair. The solution is found in a system of checks and balances. In western civilization, the division of authority segmented into the three areas of making laws, ruling on those laws and policing laws is highly admirable. But today we see this structure falling apart. In the Christian Church, Proverbs 11:1 comes into focus: Balances of deceit are an abomination to Jehovah, And a perfect weight is His delight.
