The four men who were educated at Eton College and were later awarded the Victoria Cross for gallantry during the Crimean War were all officers with the Guards Brigade. Three were among the first men ever to be awarded the medal and all four were present at the first investiture in 1857. Three became Members of Parliament in 1865; two being in the same constituency.
The information is taken from the JWB Historical Library compiled over four decades, and while the files are more comprehensive than the biographical tributes presented here, it was decided to include only the relevant information which hopefully will keep the interest of the general reader.
