This pattern was first published in ‘The Ladies Home Companion', March 1887.For ease of use by modern knitters, it has been re-written using modern terminology for stitch names. Metric measurements, as well as additional working notes, have also been added. In addition to this there is a pictorial guide to working the knitted loops. In the illustrated guide it is modelled on a modern 'La Newborn' doll by Berengeur. The doll’s head measurements are: - around head at widest point 30cm (12”), over head from earlobe to earlobe 22cm (8½”)The bonnet is a good fit on Armand Marseille baby dolls of a similar size, i.e.13” to 15” in length. As the pattern is very straightforward it may be adapted for larger sizes.Requirements:Knitting Needles: 1 pair 3mm knitting needles (UK 11, US 2 or 3)Yarn: A minimum of 25g (1 oz.) 4 ply wool(UK 4 ply = US 1 or Super Fine, Australian 3, German 3 fadig - 4 ply ...
