This pattern was first published in ‘The Ladies Home Companion', March 1887.For ease of use by modern knitters, it has been re-written using modern terminology for stitch names. Metric measurements, as well as additional working notes, have also been added. In addition to this there is a pictorial guide to working the knitted loops.In the illustrated guide it is modelled on a modern 'La Newborn' doll by Berengeur. The doll’s head measurements are: - around head at widest point 30cm (12”), over head from earlobe to earlobe 22cm (8½”)The bonnet is a good fit on Armand Marseille baby dolls of a similar size, i.e.13” to 15” in length.
