This is a work of fiction about overcoming disability. Johnny Dressler’s life begins with his birth and the discovery that he has Down’s Syndrome. The story is composed in the form of letters written by farmer Tim, Johnny’s older brother. The letters are to Tim’s only daughter. They traverse half the country to her and the story begins. Tim is sad because his daughter has never seen much of farm life or her Uncle Johnny. As Johnny’s life unfolds, he pushes his disability aside to become a person to remember. His example shows that there is more to life than accepting what is the norm in disability. The story is of life’s difficulties, tragedies and mysteries with some humor sprinkled throughout. In these pages you will meet an old Indian, a puzzling Chinese and corn that is magic.
